Meet our staff

Gary Allen Burns, CONSULTING FORESTER APPRAISER

Gary started Burns Forestry, in 1970, providing forest, wildlife and education land management services.

· Bachelor of Science in Forestry, 1967 - University of New Hampshire, Duram, New Hampshire.

· Master of Science in Forestry (wildlife emphasis), 1993 - Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas.

· Gary is currently pursing doctoral studies in forestry at Stephen F. Austin State University, in addition to his consulting services.

Professional Licenses

· State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser.

· Licensed Real Estate Broker.

· Licensed Real Estate Property tax consultant.

· Registered Forester, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Mississippi. .

Richard Cole: SENIOR FORESTER

Richard returned to work with Burns Forestry in 2003. We are proud to once again have him on our staff. Richard’s qualifications include:

· 1980 - Bachelor of Science in Forestry, Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas.

· 1980 - 1987. Forester, Burns Forestry. Supervised timber sales, harvesting contract compliance, and timber appraisal. Trained new forestry employees and supervised management service crew (tree planting, TSI boundary line work, timber marketing, etc.)

· 1987-2003. Assistant District Forester (Crockett District), Management Forester (Lufkin District), and District Forester (Crockett District, Ace District), Louisiana - Pacific. Corporation. Most recent job assignment included management of 55,000 acres of industrial forest land in four counties and 12,000 acres of private land in the Landowner Assistance program, implementation of compliance procedures for sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) certification of corporate lands, and GIS database construction.

· 2003 - present. Senior Forester, Burns Forestry Management of all forestry activities, including timber sales and appraisals, landowner assistance, GIS, litigation, timber taxation, and timber management plans.

John Kilian: FIELD COORDINATOR

John has 16 years experience with Burns Forestry and an extensive background in in farming, ranching, and wildlife management. In forestry, he specializes in coordinating logging operations and monitoring timber harvest. John also is an active real estate agent.

Brandy Davis: APPRAISER TRAINEE

Brandy is also a new addition to our staff. She attended the University of Phoenix for her Associates in Business Marketing. She is currently working under Gary assisting with land appraisals, and she has been busily working on our website. We look forward to sharing many more years with Brandy.
